Faculty Guide to Library Resources: CCP information

Information for NSCC full-time and part-time faculty

Library privileges and CCP students

  • CCP students are entitled to the same library privileges as "traditional" NSCC students.
  • If they are on campus, they are welcome to check out books using their NSCC student ID.
  • If they are on or off campus, they can use any of our online databases.
  • Students are welcome at any time to contact library staff for personal assistance.

Using online library resources

  • The best place for students to launch their research is from the library's website OR from a LibGuide (such as this page) that is embedded into a Sakai course.   Students should look for the "Library Resources" link in Sakai.
  • Some databases require authentication either through entering name and N# or by entering a username and password.
  • Usernames and passwords can be found within LibGuides, in the Research & Writing Support site in Sakai, or by contacting us at library@northweststate.edu

Checking out books

  • Typical checkout time is 3 weeks, with the potential for renewal up to two times if there are no other holds on the item
  • Books can be borrowed from our local collection at NSCC or from other Ohio college libraries through the OhioLINK consortium
  • If your students are not on campus and are not able to drive here, arrangements can be made for someone else to pick up any needed books.  Please email us at library@northweststate.edu to make arrangements.

Important note about connecting to online databases

If students are attempting to access NSCC Library resources via a laptop or other device, especially a school-issued device, it's possible for firewalls to cause an issue.  Please contact the high school IT department if this is suspected. NSCC IT and/or Library staff can also assist in troubleshooting if necessary.
