Sociology: Using the Library Pickup Locker

REQUESTING AN ITEM FOR PICKUP AT THE LIBRARY PICKUP LOCKER

Item from Northwest State Library

(something currently on our shelf on the first floor of A building)

  • Go to the library catalog page  https://nwlink.northweststate.edu/
  • Search for a keyword OR a book title
  • Once you see a book that you would like to borrow, make sure that the status says “CHECK SHELVES”  (this is the only requestable status)

If there is more than one title included in the results - click on the title you’re interested in so that you see the entire record

  • Click on “Request this item” at the top left of the screen
  • Enter your name and N# (as it would appear in the college’s records) and click “Submit”
  • Choose “Library Locker” from the drop-down menu
  • If you want to, select a “cancel if not filled by” date (but you don’t have to)
  • Click the “Submit” button

If the request was successful, you will receive a message on the screen that says “Your request for (title) was successful.  You will be able to pick up this material at the Library Locker when it is ready.”

If the request is not successful, there may be an issue with your account.   Please email us at library@northweststate.edu with any questions.

Item from an OhioLINK library

Currently, the only way to get your items placed in the Library Pickup Locker is to contact the library directly.  Request your item(s) using the OhioLINK library catalog at   https://catalog.ohiolink.edu/iii/encore/?lang=eng.  Then, simply send us an email at library@northweststate.edu and we will arrange it!

PICKING UP AN ITEM FROM THE LIBRARY PICKUP LOCKER 

You can pick items up from the remote locker anytime the Atrium is open. Current building hours are: Monday through Thursday 7:00am-10:00pm, Friday 7:00am-4:30pm.  The best place to enter is the north Atrium door.

  • Once you receive an email that an item is ready for pickup, take your NSCC ID card to the locker
  • Scan the library barcode at the locker (this is the 5-digit barcode above the Northwest State Community College logo)

You should then see all the items available to you for pickup, grouped based on the locker that they are in

  • Select which items you want to pick up.  NOTE: Selecting an item from a locker will select all items in that locker. There is a “select all” button that you can use, if you wish.
  • Once you have selected the items to be picked up, click “Done.”

A locker door should “pop open” and you can retrieve your item(s)

  • Firmly close the locker once you have your items

You will be asked if you’d like a printed receipt, or not.  It’s your choice.

If you see that your NSCC student ID does not have a library barcode, or the barcode is incomplete, you will need to get a new ID at the Campus Police station in the atrium.  There will be no charge for this replacement.  Please contact the library with any issues. 

RETURNING an item  (either NSCC Library property or OhioLINK library property)

You will not use the locker to return books.  However, there is a book drop to the right of the locker in the atrium that can be used to return items.  There is also a book return inside the library, in the counter to the left as you walk in the main library doors.
